Instructions for Flip Chart

Due on Tuesday (B-Day students) or Wednesday (A-Day students)
 
 
Flip Chart Instructions

Title:  The Colonists Protest

 

Under each flap (starting at the very top, on the "underflap"), you will write two paragraphs…
 

1) “FACT paragraph”:  Include why the colonists were protesting against the British government. See the questions below to be included in this paragraph.

and

2) “OPINION paragraph”:  Role-play the opinion/reaction of someone present at the time and involved in these events in history.  (Example: a colonial leader, a colonist, a British soldier, a member of the British Parliament, King George, etc.)

 

FACT PARAGRAPH (paragraph #1):

(Respond to the questions below under the flap for the acts/laws of the taxes being imposed by Britain.)


The Sugar Act / The Stamp Act / The Townshend Acts / The Tea Act / The Coercive Acts:

1.     When was the Act/Law passed?

2.     Why was it passed?

3.     Who passed the Act/Law?

4.     What did the Act tax?

5.     Who was hurt by the tax?

6.     How did the colonists respond? What did they do?

7.    Why did the colonists feel this tax was unfair?

8.     Did all people complain? Or were there some who did not? Why?

9.     How did the British Parliament respond? What did they do?

 

The Boston Massacre / The Boston Tea Party:

1.    When did this event take place?

2.    Why did this event take place?

3.    Who was involved in this event?

4.    What happened during this event?

5.    How did the colonists respond? What did they do?

6.    How do you think this event would unite the colonists?


 

OPINION PARAGRAPH (paragraph #2):

(Role-play the opinion/reaction of someone present at the time this took place and someone who was involved in these events in history.  (Examples: a colonial leader, a colonist, a British soldier, a member of the British Parliament, King George, etc.)
